Buying used

Even better than buying organic and buying fair trade is buying used products. Think about it. Buying used items stops the item from being thrown away and at the same time you are not buying the product new. Maybe not that great for the world economy, but great for your wallet and the environment. For this reason, and just because I like doing it, I love to go to a garage sale or a thrift store. You never know what you might find, and it is always cheap. Another plus is that garage sale and thrift store shopping is helping the seller. Many times garage sales are used as a way to make a little extra money for a family. I have even encountered people who do it as a regular income source. Thrift stores usually benefit charities too, like animal shelters and homeless shelters, and often they employ people with developmental disabilities. Buying used is a win win situation for all.
